# Sub-objectives

> Group and order questions according to the stages of your qualification journey.

A sub-objective represents a business stage such as understanding the need, confirming budget, or checking the timeline.

## Roles

| Role             | Meaning                                                  |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Required**     | This stage must be covered for the configured objective. |
| **Contributing** | This stage improves qualification but is not mandatory.  |
| **Optional**     | This stage enriches the conversation when useful.        |

Reorder sub-objectives by drag and drop or with the keyboard. The ordering strength chosen on the Objective page determines how strictly NBQ follows this sequence.

## Empty sub-objectives

An empty sub-objective is not useful to the runtime. Add questions manually, import them, or use the AI generation assistant and review its proposals.

  Use names that make sense to a business user. Technical ranking parameters remain internal to the engine.
